Curious Wilson’s Warbler Checks Out Camera While Passing Through Los Alamos On Way To Winter In Central America

Passing through on its way to winter in Central America, this Wilson’s Warbler checked out the camera in October  deep in the ravine of Los Alamos Canyon. These tiny birds breed in the high mountains of Colorado and north all the way to the Arctic Ocean. Wilson’s Warblers prefer wet forests, bogs and brushy thickets near streams where they hunt for insects. Look for them in Los Alamos particularly in May and again from August through October. Daily Postcard: Final Supermoon Shines On Aspen Trees

Daily Postcard: A bright and beautiful full supermoon illuminates Aspen trees Friday night in White Rock. This is the fourth and final supermoon of the year. Also called the Beaver Supermoon because this is the time of year when beavers begin to take shelter in their lodges, having laid up sufficient food stores for the long winter ahead. During the fur trade in North America, it was also the season to trap beavers for their thick, winter-ready pelts. Source: The Old Farmers Store. Photo by Nancy Ann Hibbs

Final Supermoon Of 2024 Spotted Near Taos

The final Supermoon of 2024, the Beaver Moon, is spotted off SR68 southwest of Taos on Friday evening. Beaver Moon is one of the nicknames for the November full Moon. The term has origins from a variety of traditions and folklore in Native American and European culture. One explanation – November is when beavers prepare for the winter by fortifying dams and stocking their food supply. Catch Of The Week: Facebook Scams

By REBECCA RUTHERFORD
Los Alamos
For the Los Alamos Daily Post

Who doesn’t love art, and particularly, hilarious art? One of my favorite artists is Tommy Siegel, of “extremely accurate birds” fame. Tommy Siegel is a cartoonist for the New Yorker.

I love art, especially weird art, and I find his work hilarious. You can purchase his calendars here at his official website.

Unfortunately he, and other artists, are now being ripped off by fake ads on Facebook.

Below is an ad for an Extremely Accurate Birds calendar knockoff that has nothing to do with Tommy Siegel, and will not benefit him at all:
