SANTA FE  With an eye toward the future, the ongoing renovation at the New Mexico Museum of Art is addressing sustainability issues to protect and preserve future exhibitions.
 
Closed since mid-September for an extensive upgrade, the Museum reopens at 10:00AM on November 25th, launching its Centennial year celebration. The renovation work will restore, as much as possible, the original elegant simplicity of the interior public spaces of this building; and improve the visitor experience by creating a more welcoming entrance

Navajo poet Sherwin Bitsui will read his poetry at UNM-Los Alamos (UNM-LA) at 1 p.m. Nov. 15 in the UNM-LA Library as part of the celebration of National Native American Heritage Month on campus.

A Diné (Navajo), Bitsui studied at the Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA) in Santa Fe and now teaches for the MFA in Creative Writing for the IAIA. His honors include the 2011 Lannan Literary Fellowship, a Native Arts & Culture Foundation Fellowship for Literature, a PEN Open Book Award, an American Book Award and a Whiting Writers Award.

“Thor: Ragnarok” is the third Marvel Comics movie to come out in recent years featuring Thor, the Norse god of thunder. Throughout the series Thor is played by the studly Aussie actor, Chris Hemsworth, who truly is “easy on the eyes”.
 
All three Thor films depend on Marvel plotlines and Norse characters, but these lines do get blurred. So don’t expect the plot to make perfect sense; instead, you may find that the film will delight, surprise and entertain you if you don’t take it too seriously.

‘Come Write In!’ At The White Rock Branch Library

The Los Alamos County Library System is hosting the NaNoWriMo program (short for National Novel Writing Month) in November, joining libraries and writing groups around the world to support and stimulate writers.

Writing sessions begin at 6 p.m. each Tuesday in the White Rock Branch Library. Writers will be encouraged to write a 50,000-word novel during the month – but all writers are welcome to attend, whether their writing takes the form of a novel or something shorter.

Locals Participates In National Novel Writing Month

Around the country, writers are working toward the goal of writing a 50,000-word novel by 11:59 p.m. Nov. 30 for National Novel Writing Month.

The Blue Monday Writing Group will host a silent writing event for two hours 1-3 p.m. four Mondays in November on the second floor of Mesa Public Library, Room 1, in support of writing a 50,000-word novel in 30 days.

Plan on arriving a few minutes early to set-up and greet fellow writers, but at 1 p.m. the writing begins. Attendees may quietly arrive late, take breaks or leave early as their schedules require.
