The Western United States, particularly the states that are part of the Colorado River drainage are facing an unprecedented water crisis. 

A severely below-normal snowpack and warm temperatures in March have led to low stream flow and reservoir levels throughout the region. 

Glen Canyon Dam, which impounds Lake Powell, is in danger of reaching “Dead Pool” meaning no water could be released. Reservoirs upstream from Lake Powell, like Flaming Gorge in Utah, have been ordered to release more water to prevent this catastrophe.  The Read More

New Mexico Supreme Court Upholds Man’s Convictions For Murder At Albuquerque Motel

COURT News:

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Supreme Court has affirmed a Bernalillo County man’s convictions for a fatal shooting in 2021 at an Albuquerque motel and conspiring to rob the victim.

In a unanimous opinion written by Justice Michael E. Vigil, the Court rejected arguments by the defendant, Christopher Maldonado, that there was not enough evidence to convict him and that the jury was confused by the instructions it received from the trial court.

County Departments To Host Bike To Work Event May 14

COUNTY News:

The Los Alamos County Public Works Department, along with the Transportation Board and Community Services Department, invites residents to participate in the upcoming “Bike to Work” event on Thursday, May 14.

Cyclists are encouraged to visit the Energizer Station from 7-9 a.m. at the northwest corner of Diamond Drive and Canyon Road.

Here, participants can enjoy refreshments, snacks, and receive bike-related giveaways.
