On May 1, I was one of about 20 legislators — representing both parties and both chambers — selected to attend a conference on opioid drug (e.g., oxycodone, Vicodin, Percocet, hydrocodone) misuse in New Mexico.

Runaway Vehicle Crashes into White Rock Visitor Center

Police arrived at the scene of an accident in which an unoccupied vehicle rolled away from the Shell Gas Station at Rover Boulevard and N.M. 4 at about 5 p.m. today, picked up speed through the adjacent parking lot and plowed into the White Rock Visitor Center. According to police, the driver went inside the station to prepay her gas. Her vehicle is a manual transmission that apparently popped out of gear and rolled southbound across the parking lot, struck a canopy pole near the entrance of the tourist information center, jumped the curb and pushed in a portion of the glass and wall area of the building Read More

Police Charge Main Hill Road Speeder

Los Alamos Police arrested the driver of a vehicle seen speeding down the Main Hill Road Tuesday night.

Officers stopped Aaron Victor D. Lopez, 25, of Espanola at 10:11 p.m. before Anderson Overlook and administered a Field Sobriety Test to him, which he failed, according to police.

Lopez has been charged with DUI, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding.

Police issued criminal citations at the scene to two passengers riding in the vehicle, Julia Gonzalez-Marquez, 19, of Espanola and Daniel Cruz-Chafino, 19, of Espanola.
