Bill To Support Behavioral Health Passes Committee

SANTA FE – Today, a bill sponsored by House Majority Floor Leader Sheryl Williams Stapleton (D-Albuquerque) passed the House Health and Human Services committee. 

House Bill 160 provides interventions for nonviolent offenders who have a behavioral health diagnosis in order to reduce the chances of repeat offenses, detention, and ineffective incarceration.

Mesa Public Library Free Film Series Shows Milagro Beanfield War 6:30 p.m. Thursday

LIBRARY News:

Milagro Beanfield War, directed by Robert Redford, is the featured film at Mesa Public Library for February, airing 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the upstairs meeting rooms at Mesa Public Library.

It stars Ruben Blades, Richard Bradford, Sonia Braga, Melanie Griffith and Christopher Walken, among others. 

The film was shot in Northern New Mexico including Los Alamos and Truchas, and is being shown in conjunction with New Mexico Film Week Feb. 6 through 11.

Bandelier Gets Valuable Help From Friends Group

Ever since 1987, the Friends of Bandelier have supported the park, providing funding for projects that couldn’t have been done within Bandelier’s regular budget.

With money raised from members all over the country and beyond, through the years these projects have included biological surveys, post-fire recovery studies, handicap ramps for the parking area, campsite upgrades, archeological surveys, mapping ancient trails, pueblo crafts demonstrations, and more.

June 21, 1961 – Jan. 28, 2018 

Louis Francis James Sandoval (Louie), age 56, passed away on January 28, 2018 after a strong and brief fight with cancer. 


 
Louie was born in Santa Fe, NM on June 21, 1961 to Presiliano and Dora Sandoval. 

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Apolinar and Pablita Sandoval; maternal grandparents, Felimon and Anita Sandoval; brothers-in-law, Art Martinez and Edgar Lopez; and great niece, Abigail Dean Lopez.

AP Night At Los Alamos High School Thursday, Feb. 1

LAHS News:

Students and parents are invited to attend AP Night at Los Alamos High School, 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, in the IMC (school library). 

Attendees will be able to meet with teachers and students to learn more about specific AP and Honors course offerings at LAHS, as well as the dual credit programs offered at the high school. 

In addition, representatives from UNM-LA, Northern New Mexico College and Santa Fe Community College will be available to discuss dual credit and other college level courses.
