This message is in response to the Letter to the Editor by Jacob Hollis (letter). I think this may be the first time I’ve ever responded to a Letter to the Editor.

You’ve managed to express your opinion with regards to Syrian Refugees and what to do about this, but it’s very clear you’re not thinking the ENTIRE issue through very well. 

 
Here are a few things to consider:
 
  • What about people from other countries like Cuba? Do we stop them, too?
  • What about those with a tourist visa?

With stories of toddlers washed up on beaches, and abductions of children, it is easy to see why the Syrian Refugee Crisis is an emotionally charged issue.
 
However, as Albert Camus once said, “Good intentions may do as much harm as malevolence if they lack understanding.” And with the media blowing everything out of proportion, it is difficult to be informed.
