Hilltopper Volleyball Juggernaut Powers Past #10-ranked Academy Chargers, 3-0

Volleyball is a momentum sport and Thursday evening the Topper volleyball team continued to roll following up on Wednesday’s 3-0 defeat of district foe Capital with a victory over arch-rival the Academy Chargers at Griffith gym.

The game scores were 25-20, 25-21 and 25-14. 

The Toppers scored 20 points off of Sierra Foley’s serve. Foley also had 16 kills. Brianna Montano led with 18 kills. The kills resulted for excellent sets by co-captain

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Department of Veterans’ Services is asking women veterans in New Mexico to take a brief online survey to help the agency assess the needs and level of care provided for the state’s women military veterans.
 
All women veterans—regardless of war or peacetime era served, length of service, or rank achieved–are invited to take the nineteen-question survey, which should only take a few minutes to complete.

Bandelier To Raise Entrance Fees In January 2016

Starting Jan. 1, 2016, Bandelier National Monument will increase entrance fees for visitors in order to fund important maintenance and improvement projects within the park. 
 
New fees will be:
  • Vehicle pass (7 days): $20
  • Individual/bike (7 days): $10
  • Motorcycle (7 days): $15
  • Annual entry pass to Bandelier: $40

Hilltopper Fundraiser ‘Kick For The Cure’ Oct. 2

The community is encouraged to come out and support the JV and Varsity girls Hilltoppers Friday as they take on the Highland Hornets and raise money for Kick For The Cure!
 

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the money collected at the games goes to support the Los Alamos Council on Cancer – a local organization that helps residents with their fight against cancer.

Faubert Best Predictor In Weekly Pace Race

Madeleine Faubert was the top predictor in the weekly pace race held on the Lower Water Canyon Trail off N.M. 4 near White Rock. 
 
She was 32 seconds off her predicted time. 5 year old Anders Medin recorded a 39 second differential and was also the fastest 1 mile runner with a time of 12:58. 
 
Other accurate predictors were Duane Marr at 42 seconds off and Sue Elkins and Felix Candia both at a 45 second difference.
