Girl Scout Camp is open to all girls in 1st through 12th grade. The camps help girls get outdoors, learn about conservation, develop new skills, make new friends, and learn how to make the best s’more ever.

This evening a nice young man came to my door in White Rock selling children’s books, with the story that he was financing an internship to go to Boeing to restore a P51 Mustang. He said that he lived just a few blocks away. Since I don’t have children he said that I could also pay for the books to be donated to a children’s hospital.

USDA Invests $6.7 Million In 544 Renewable Energy And Energy Efficiency Projects Nationwide

WASHINGTON, D.C. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced Thursday that USDA is investing more than $6.7 million in 544 renewable energy and energy efficiency projects nationwide.
 
Secretary Vilsack made the announcement during a visit to the Snake River Brewing Company, in Jackson, Wyo. The company received a $14,000 USDA Rural Development Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) grant to install a solar panel to generate energy for their business.

Alert: Resident Warns Of Deer Likely Killed By Cougar

A resident in the 1100 block of Sioux contacted the Los Alamos Daily Post today to warn the community that he found a dead deer over the weekend in his backyard that appeared to be killed by a cougar because its throat was ripped out.
 
“I live on Sioux and wanted to warn everyone in the area. Animal control came out but would not say whether it looked like a lion kill or not but it looks a lot like one to me … it tried to get the deer out of my yard under my fence.”

NCRTD Implements Financial Transparency Platform

In its commitment to clear and open government, the North Central Regional Transit District (NCRTD) has implemented a web-based financial transparency and accountability platform on its website.
 
The NCRTD has contracted with OpenGov to create an interactive reporting tool that allows the public to explore the District’s financial data online in easy-to-use graphical formats that can be selected and customized by the user. 
 
The system provides historical financial data from 2010 to the current year that can be analyzed on a monthly or annual basis

NM 599 And Jaguar Drive Interchange Closures In Santa Fe Begin June 16-17

SANTA FE  Commercial Center at 599 (CC@599) continues roadway and bridge work as part of the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) access permit granted to CC@599 for a new access to NM 599 at Jaguar Drive in southern Santa Fe. 
 
A diamond interchange is being constructed by CC@599 as part of the requirements of an access permit issued by the NMDOT for access to NM 599 for new development located along NM 599.
 
Starting Tuesday, June 16, the NM 599 northbound lanes will be CLOSED 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. each day.
