New Mexico Judiciary Implements 24/7 Alert System Plan For Defendants With Electronic Monitoring Devices

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Judiciary has announced a plan for around-the-clock monitoring of an alert system for felony defendants wearing a GPS device that tracks their location while awaiting trial in Bernalillo County.

“This improvement supports public safety by helping courts and law enforcement respond promptly to alerts 24/7 when an electronic monitor indicates defendants violated court-imposed restrictions on their movement in the community,” Chief Justice Michael Vigil said.

SANTA FE — The Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) will waive fees at many day-use recreation sites for National Public Lands Day (NPLD) Saturday, Sept. 25.

NMDOT Sponsors Car Seat Inspection Clinics Saturday Sept. 25 For National Child Passenger Safety Awareness Week

AG’s Ethics Complaint Against Rep. Daymon Ely Dismissed

SANTA FE — Thursday, the hearing officer for the State Ethics Commission  dismissed the complaint filed by New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas against Rep. Daymon Ely.

Balderas’ complaint had argued that Ely violated the Governmental Conduct Act by “attempting to interfere with a law enforcement prosecution” and misused his legislative authority by threatening to use his position to “constrict the authority of the Attorney General in similarly situated cases”.

The AG’s complaint was dismissed with prejudice and therefore cannot be refiled in any form. Read More
