Leonard is Top Predictor in Weekly Pace Race

ATOMIC ROAD RUNNERS News:

Erik Leonard was the fastest for the 1-mile predict-your-time pace race in 8:14 and was only one second off his prediction.

A total of 41 people did the weekly Tuesday pace races, which were held on paved roads in Pajarito Acres under cloudy skies.

For the one mile course, the fastest female runner was Michelle Jones (9:39). The best female predictors were Inez Ross (10 s off her prediction), Darby Kellum and D J Kliesen (both 13 s). Zach Leonard did the 1 mile run in 8:16, and Morgan Jones did 10:47.

Auditions Begin Aug. 19 for “The Woman in Black”

LOS ALAMOS LITTLE THEATER News:

Auditions for The Woman in Black play are 2-5 p.m. Aug. 19 and 7-9 p.m. Aug. 20 at the Los Alamos Performing Arts Center, 1670 Nectar St.

Scripts are available at Mesa Public Library for overnight check out.

The Woman in Black play, adapted by Stephen Mallatratt from the novel by Susan Hill, takes place in a Victorian theater where a man named Kipps has hired an Actor to help him tell a life-changing, true ghost story to family and friends.

Fall KinderKick Soccer Registration Ends Aug. 17

FAMILY YMCA News:

Registration is open until Aug. 17 for the YMCA Fall KinderKick Soccer program for ages three to four and five to six.

The Season runs Aug. 27 to Oct. 4. Practice and games are twice a week for six weeks in White Rock and Los Alamos.

Effective 6 a.m. today, Los Alamos National Laboratory will be open to LANL and Department of Energy badge holders only.

Curiosity Lands on Mars!

NASA News

NASA’s Curiosity rover has landed on Mars. Curiosity is a car-size, one-ton rover that touched down on Mars at 11:31 a.m. Monday. The landing marks the beginning of a two-year prime mission to investigate.
