Transportation Board Meeting Canceled Due To Weather
The Los Alamos County Transportation Board Meeting scheduled for today, Jan. 4, has been canceled due to inclement weather and the 2 p.m. closure today of County non-essential government facilities.
The next regularly scheduled Transportation Board Meeting will be held in February.

Los Alamos, New Mexico — Los Alamos County Manager Steven Lynne ordered the closure of all non-essential County government facilities at 2 p.m. today, Jan. 4, due to hazardous weather conditions.
The Los Alamos Eco Transfer station also shut down today at 2 p.m. along with the other county facilities.
Officials advise that the Atomic City Transit services, however, will continue to operate as scheduled. Residential and commercial trash was successfully collected today.

County Manager Steven Lynne Announces 10 AM Start Time Thursday For Non-essential Government Facilities
Due to forecasted hazardous weather conditions, Los Alamos County Manager Steven Lynne has ordered a delayed start time of 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 4 for non-essential government administrative offices.
Some additional County services and facilities may also be affected:
- Atomic City Transit fixed route service will begin at approximately 7 a.m. Thursday morning. For specific route information, visit www.atomiccitytransit.com, or check the ACTracker.
- The Aquatic Center plans to open at 10 a.m.
- The Ice Rink opening time will be determined Thursday morning.

The Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) is kicking off 2024 with its annual Voice of the Customer Survey to measure customer satisfaction and engagement in areas like quality, reliability and service.

Canyon Road Reconstruction Project Warranty Work Update
TLC Plumbing and Utility will begin warranty work for the Canyon Road Reconstruction project the second week of January 2024.
The warranty work will be performed to repair two water valve concrete collars that have become loose and pose a safety issue. Traffic cones have been placed over these concrete collars to prevent further damage to utility infrastructure from vehicular traffic, and to ensure the safety of the public.
The work is scheduled for completion by the end of January 2024.

Los Alamos County has announced that TLC Plumbing and Utility will begin warranty work for the Canyon Road Reconstruction project the second week of January 2024.
Two water valves have become loose and need to be repaired. For the safety of the traveling public, traffic is being diverted around the water valves. The work is scheduled for completion by the end of January 2024.
Vehicles will need to exit to the west onto Canyon Road from the west driveway of the Aquatic Center, and Canyon Village Apartment resident’s driveway, no left turn onto Canyon Road.

Los Alamos County Public Works Department is under contract with Hasse Contracting Company Inc. to construct the Urban Trail Phase I & II Multi-use Trail Project.
Hasse Contracting will resume construction activities Jan. 2 within the Fuller Lodge Grounds adjacent to Central Avenue.

New Mexico State Police (NMSP) will be conducting sobriety checkpoints, saturation patrols, and registration, insurance, and driver’s license checkpoints in all New Mexico counties during January 2024.

Community interest and participation in various sustainable programs offered through the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) is strong, according to DPU Conservation Specialist Abbey Hayward.
Hayward provided an update of various programs at the Dec. 6 Board of Public Utilities meeting. She reported that the department hosted in October “the middle section” of its sustainable landscape workshops during which 82 people attended at least one session.
