County Reissues Broadband Network Project Solicitation 

COUNTY News: 

Los Alamos County staff reports the re-issuing of the Community Broadband Network project Request For Proposals (RFP) Dec. 12, 2023.

The previous solicitation had good response through both Phase 1 (qualifications) and Phase 2 (proposals), however Phase 2 proposals received were deemed incomplete.

Atomic City Transit regular scheduled bus service and para transit services will not operate Monday, Jan. 1 in observance of the New Years Day holiday.

Regular services will resume Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2024.

Route 3 and Peak Service on Routes 1 and 6 (AM) will remain suspended until further notice due to staffing shortage.

When shoveling snow, place shoveled snow on the backside of the sidewalk. Direct the chutes of snow blowers and shovel snow toward lawn areas whenever possible, rather than toward the street. This will provide lawns with addi­tional moisture and prevent that same snow from being plowed back onto surfaces previously cleared by residents.

Update On Los Alamos Canyon Reservoir And Road

COUNTY News:

A repair project that necessitated closure of the Los Alamos Canyon Reservoir and the road leading to it has been paused until the spring, opening up access for hikers once again.

The project involves rehabilitation of the damaged stream channel. It is a collaboration among the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU), Keystone Restorative Ecology and Natural Channel Design. The first phase focused on the fortification and restoration of the road and removal of the large quantity of sediments in the reservoir.

Urban Trail Phase I & II Multi-Use Project Paused Until Jan. 2

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County Public Works Division is under contract with Hasse Contracting Company Inc. to construct the Urban Trail Phase I & II Multi-use Trail Project. Due to last week’s snow event and forecasted inclement weather the decision has been made to pause construction activities until Jan. 2, 2024.

Traffic Impact:

During this pause, sidewalk closures within the Fuller Lodge Grounds are in effect and pedestrian detour signage has been placed. Motorists and pedestrians are advised to use caution around construction activities and avoid entering the work zone.

County Customer Care Center To Close At Noon Friday

COUNTY News:

The Los Alamos County Customer Care Center will close at noon Friday, Dec. 22. The office is normally open until 5 p.m. weekdays.

Customers wishing to do business prior to the Christmas holiday weekend are encouraged to stop by during regular business hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Thursday and up until noon on Friday, Dec. 22.

Los Alamos County Trash And Recycling Services Announce Holiday Hours For Christmas And New Year’s

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County Environmental Services Division will close early at noon Sunday, Dec. 24 and will be closed in observance of the Christmas holiday Monday, Dec. 25.

This includes operations at the Eco Station and the Overlook Convenience Center, as well as residential and commercial trash and recycling.
