LAPS To Host Informational Meeting For Potential School Board Candidates Monday Aug. 14

LAPS News:

Los Alamos Public Schools (LAPS) will host an informational meeting for potential School Board candidates starting at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14 in the School Boardroom.

Los Alamos County Clerk Naomi Maestas will open the meeting by providing information about the candidate filing process and campaign requirements. Former and current school board members will then host a question-and-answer session for potential candidates to learn more about school board roles and responsibilities.

Mesa Public Library Hosts Second Annual Atomicon Aug. 5

Mesa Public Library will present the second annual Atomicon: a Comic-Con-inspired event for all ages 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5.

The first Atomicon was held at Mesa Public Library last year in July. An estimated 1,500 fans attended the inaugural event. Los Alamos County’s Emergency Management Office has released its Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP) draft for public review. The draft plan can be found on the county’s Hazard Mitigation webpage https://lacnm.com/LHMP. Paper copies are available upon request from the Emergency Management office at 2500 Trinity Drive. Allow Extra Time For Commute From Barranca Mesa July 26

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County has announced that extra time may be needed for the Wednesday, July 26 morning commute from Barranca Mesa. Los Alamos County and its paving contractor, Albuquerque Asphalt are progressing rapidly with the pavement preservation project on North and Barranca Mesas.

Starting at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday crews will be setting up and starting paving operations just north of the roundabout. This is a difficult stretch to pave so the County is advising drivers to leave approximately 15-20 minutes earlier, to allow time to travel through the pilot-car operation. Additional Read More
