Lane And Sidewalk Closure With Flagging Operation Underway On Central Avenue Between 15th And 7th Streets
Son’s Communications closed the eastbound lane today on Central Avenue from 15th Street to 7th Street. There is a moving flagging operation in place 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.
Work will continue through Aug. 4.
The south sidewalk on Central Avenue will also be closed from 15th Street to just east of the 7th Street intersection. Pedestrian detour signs are available at 15th and Central Avenue and at 6th Street and Central Avenue.

Smoke Spotted Near Pajarito Ski Hill … LAFD, Santa Fe Forestry On Site
Los Alamos Fire Department and Santa Fe Forestry crews are responding to a small fire start-up near the Pajarito Ski Hill.
These small fires are a result of a lightning strike on one tree from this afternoon’s rain storm.
As seen from the Los Alamos townsite, this smoke activity is on Santa Fe Forest land. LAFD fire crews are on scene and Santa Fe Forestry Engine crews are in the area.
Loa Alamos Police dispatch is aware and communicating with LAFD.
LAFD officials advise that the situation is under control and thank citizens for their diligence in reporting the smoke. Read More

Today, Police Chief Dino Sgambellone released crime statistics through the second quarter of 2023, which were compiled by the Records Section of the Los Alamos Police Department (LAPD).
During the second quarter of 2023, there was a significant increase in fraud cases reported to the Department. Citizens are reminded not to provide personal identifying information especially social security numbers and bank account information. Los Alamos County Environmental Services To Close On Aug. 2 For Employee Professional Development Day

Los Alamos County Environmental Services will be closed Wednesday, Aug. 2, for Employee Professional Development Day.
This includes operations at the Eco Station and the Overlook Convenience Center, as well as residential and commercial trash, recycling and yard trimming services.
There will be no changes to residential yard trimming and trash pickup during the week.
All commercial services that fall on Wednesday will be collected on Tuesday or Thursday.

Canyon Walk Apts. Driveway Reconstruction Runs July 20-31
Contractors for Qualcon Builders (Canyon Walk Apartments) will be working to reconstruct the eastern driveway to the Canyon Walk Apartments Thursday July 20 through Monday July 31.
Work will generally be conducted between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., but due to the hot weather conditions, concrete pours may commence earlier than 7 a.m., with the approval of a Noise Relief Permit. These concrete pours will be completed during the week of July 24, weather permitting.
