Atomic City Transit regular scheduled bus service will not operate Monday, June 20, in observance of Juneteenth holiday.
Bandelier Shuttle service will continue to operate with 20-minute service Saturday June 18 through Monday June 20.

County Admin. Offices Closed Monday For Juneteenth
COUNTY News:
The Los Alamos County administrative offices will be closed Monday, June 20, in observance of Juneteenth.
Last February, the County Council adopted a change to the County’s personnel rules to add Juneteenth and Indigenous People’s Day as observed County holidays to promote diversity, equity and inclusion.
This Monday, Los Alamos County will join other federal, state and local governments and organizations to commemorate June 19, 1865 or Juneteenth, the day when enslaved people in Texas learned of Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation.

Los Alamos County is undergoing a surge of infections of the highly transmissible COVID-19 Omicron variants. As of June 16, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has measured the impact of illness in Los Alamos County as “medium,” although just barely.
County officials announced they will hold a virtual briefing regarding the community’s COVID-19 status, 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 23, to include representatives from Los Alamos Public Schools and retired epidemiologist William Athas, PhD.

Los Alamos County Council Chair Randall Ryti shares opening remarks at the dedication ceremony today of ‘Perspective’, a solar-powered stone fountain created by Santa Fe artist Greg Robertson. The dedication was held at the White Rock Community Garden. The hand-carved and hand-polished piece was installed in 2021 but the dedication ceremony was postponed due to the pandemic. White Rock is on track to not only get new elementary schools but also new, expanded gym spaces for students and the public.

The Hilltop House Hotel is one step closer to being flattened. Tuesday night, Los Alamos County Council unanimously approved a task order for one of its on-call contractors, All-Rite Construction, to demolish the building and remove the material.
The cost to do the demo work is $883,434 but council also approved a budget revision for the entire project in the amount of $1,325,000, this is partly due to the increased costs for the asbestos abatement.

The number of cases has increased over the two weeks ending June 14 by 157 percent. We are at a 7-day average of 25+ cases per day, equal to 129 per 100,000 people.

County: Pavement Preservation Work At Airport June 20-24
COUNTY News:
Los Alamos County has announced that Monday, June 20, crews with Maxwell Asphalt, Inc. are scheduled to begin pavement preservation work at Los Alamos County Airport that includes crack sealing and applying a seal coat and new markings to the runway and taxiways A through E.
Work also includes other asphalt repairs around the hangars on the east side of the airport and replacement of a limited number of concrete panels on the tarmac around high traffic areas.
In order for crews to work safely, the airport will be closed Monday, June 20 through Friday, June 24.
