Atomic City Transit Launches Community Survey

Los Alamos County’s Atomic City Transit (ACT) launched two short community surveys June 3 through its vendor LSC Transportation Consultants.
One survey is designed to solicit feedback from intermittent and non-users, and the other is for frequent users of the ACT bus services. Transit officials encourage community members to provide feedback on the survey that best describes their ridership before midnight Monday, June 20.

County: Computers To Be Down At Customer Care Tuesday

The Customer Care Center at the Los Alamos County Department of Public Utilities will be closed 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Los Alamos County Atomic City Transit has announced that service will be suspended on Route 2M (Main Hill) starting Tuesday, June 7 through Thursday, June 9 due to a staffing shortage.

The Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) will replace about 1,500 feet of underground electric line over the next two weeks on Cheryl Avenue and Aragon Avenue.
The work will be done between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays by Parker Construction.
The replacement, starting Tuesday and ending by June 21, will require excavation along Aragon Avenue from Cheryl Avenue to Bryce Avenue and along Cheryl Avenue for about 160 feet from Aragon heading west.

County: Cable Work Affecting Traffic Downtown June 6-16

CableCom, LLC and 2 Men 1 Cable will replace cable system pedestals in the Los Alamos downtown area Monday June 6 through Wednesday June 16.
Crews will work in the roadway on 15th Street between Central Avenue and Trinity Drive, as well as on Central Avenue just east of 15th Street. Some traffic delays in the area are expected.
Between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., crews will bore on 15th between Central and Trinity on the east side of the street, shifting northbound vehicular traffic to the center of the road and closing the sidewalk to pedestrians.

Aquatic Center Has Reopened To The Public

Crews and staff worked steadily through the week to troubleshoot and find solutions to bring the Olympic pool equipment back online allowing the Aquatic Center to be reopened to the public.
Adjustments and follow up work requiring a one-day shutdown of the pool is expected in several weeks and will be announced once scheduled.

Los Alamos County has always been known for its recreational offerings. With enhancing and expanding existing biking trails under consideration, the Community Services Department is working to enhance and diversify these offerings.
CSD Director Cory Styron listed the bike trail projects being considered:
- A seven-mile International Mountain Biking Trail in Pueblo Canyon,
- A connector trail that would allow bikers to travel from the roundabout on San Ildefonso Road to the Aquatic Center,
