Roadwork Closes Sherwood Boulevard Through June
COUNTY News:
Crews with Star Paving Company have commenced road and drainage improvements on Sherwood Boulevard between Piedra Loop and Aztec Avenue.
Crews are removing curb and gutter and have begun trenching for installation of a storm drain requiring Sherwood Boulevard to be closed to through traffic from Grand Canyon Drive to Aztec Avenue.
Sidewalks also may be closed and barricaded intermittently to pedestrians. Traffic devices and detour signs are in place to help motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians navigate around the work zone.

New Mexico COVID-19 Update March 11: 264 New Cases, Totaling 515,164, With 10 Deaths & 484,942 Recovered

SANTA FE — New Mexico state health officials today announced 264 additional COVID-19 cases.
Los Alamos County reported 6 new cases today, bringing the total to 2,692 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. (County totals are subject to change upon further investigation and determination of residency of individuals positive for COVID-19.)
This update includes 10 new deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19 and a 7-Day positivity rate of 4.4 percent.
Per the state Department of Health, the most recent cases are:
- 70 new cases in Bernalillo County
- 2 new cases in Catron County

Though there will be bad weather slowing the opening of the golf course season, the staff are hard at work to open as soon as possible.

The Los Alamos County Department of Public Utilities (DPU) has added a page to its web site to better inform customers about power outages. It can be found at ladpu.com/blackout.
Customers who have lived in Los Alamos for many years may recall a time when DPU recorded the address of every customer who called to say the power was out. This information was necessary to help the Electric Distribution Division crews understand the magnitude and specific location of each power outage so they could then try to pinpoint the source of the problem. County: Canyon Rim Trail Partial Closure March 14-18

Contractors for Qualcon Builders (Canyon Walk Apartments) will be placing rock along the southside of the Canyon Rim Trail between DP Road and the DP Canyon Bridge.
Work will take place 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, March 14 through Friday, March 18.

It was an action-packed 30-day legislative session, NM Dist. 43 Rep. Christine Chandler told Los Alamos County Council during its regular meeting Tuesday.

The Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) is conducting an essay contest for high school students as part of an effort organized by Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems (UAMPS).
