Los Alamos Community Foundation: Endowment To Support Youth Sports Now In Second Year Of Grant Giving

LACF News:

Reminiscing about the importance of competitive sports in the growth and maturity of their children and their friends sparked in Paul and Jill Cook a special project in 2019.

In collaboration with the Los Alamos Community Foundation (LACF), they decided to create an endowment that would provide perpetual financial support to further youth sports in Los Alamos County.

Initially funded with their seed contribution of $25,000, the Los Alamos Community Youth Sports Endowment has now grown to over $66,000 from additional contributions and investment earnings. Los Alamos Community Read More

Eighteen Los Alamos Residents File For Elective Office

Today was filing day for all candidates residing in Los Alamos County interested in running for office in the 2022 Primary Election, which is Tuesday, June 7.

The County offices open for the 2022 election, each with a four year term, include Assessor, Probate Judge, Magistrate Judge, Municipal Judge, Sheriff and four seats on County Council. Also open is House District 43 at the state level.

Sharon Dry is a Republican candidate for County Council. She is a Los Alamos native. Her three children and seven grandchildren have all attended Los Alamos Public Schools. ‘Los Alamos has been a safe and wonderful place to live, work and raise a family,’ Dry said. Los Alamos County Customer Closed Temporarily

COUNTY News:

The lobby-facing windows at the Los Alamos County Customer Care Center in the Municipal Building will be closed 9-10:30 a.m. Friday, March 11, so staff may attend a training.

The Customer Care Center at the Department of Public Utilities is typically open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Mondays through Fridays.

Staff will respond to voice mail and email messages after the training is over.  Those customers who opt to interact with staff in person are asked to do so before 9 a.m. or after 10:30 a.m. Friday.

Jason Wardlow Herrera-D, files for Los Alamos County Sheriff this afternoon at the Municipal Building. Wardlow Herrera retired as Deputy Police Chief last year. Bullock is an attorney who has practiced law for several decades in Los Alamos and White Rock as well as other states. He has prosecuted as well as defended in criminal cases.
