Library Partnership Provides Sensory Friendly Programming
A Mesa Library and Las Cumbres Community Services collaboration provides a new Sensory Friendly Movement and Music program to children newborn to 6 years old and their caregivers at no cost. Courtesy/LAC

Through a collaboration between Mesa Public Library and Las Cumbres Community Services, a new Sensory Friendly Movement and Music program is being offered to children from newborns to 6 years of age and their caregivers at no cost.
The program is 9:30-10 a.m. on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month beginning March 9.

Gadget Films Production In Los Alamos March 9-16

NBC Universal Pictures “Gadget Films” will be filming March 9-16 in Los Alamos for an upcoming feature.
The production will be filming at a variety of locations across town, with minimal impacts to the public.
Production locations include Fuller Lodge, Canyon Complex, Los Alamos Airport, Oppenheimer House, the United Church, Women’s Army Corp (WAC) Building and Dot Grant Trail.

Los Alamos County Councilor Sean Williams has tender his resignation from Council effective Monday, March 7.
Williams notified Councilor Chair Randall Ryti and County Manager Steven Lynne of his resignation Saturday.
In an interview Sunday with the Los Alamos Daily Post, Ryti said the Council will follow the same procedure used when former Councilor James Robinson resigned in January.

SANTA FE — New Mexico state health officials today announced 381 additional COVID-19 cases.
Los Alamos County reported 3 new cases today, bringing the total to 2,671 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. (County totals are subject to change upon further investigation and determination of residency of individuals positive for COVID-19.)
This update includes 16 new deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19 and a 7-Day positivity rate of 6.5 percent.

Today, the CDC released its weekly update to the COVID-19 community level map. The CDC framework designates community level based on diagnoses and hospitalization levels (link). Los Alamos Golf Course 2022 Season Begins March 11

The weekend of March 11-13 marks the beginning of the 2022 golf season in Los Alamos.
The Los Alamos Golf Course Pro Shop will be open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday through Sunday, with tee times for all 18 holes available 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with all rentals due by 4:30 p.m. back at the clubhouse.
The course will be closed during the week but will officially open for the 2022 Season with weekday play March 18. However, the practice range will remain closed until further notice, due to repairs.

Draft Revisions For Chapter 16 Of County Code Unveiled

The purpose behind the revisions of Chapter 16 of the Los Alamos County Code is simple, Will Gleason of Dekker, Perich and Sabatini (DPS), said Feb. 15.
“The basic premise of this is simple,” he said. “Let’s make our development process more predictable, more straight forward and just less grey area for people to have to interpret.”

School Board & County Council Move On Joint Projects

The Los Alamos County Council and the Los Alamos School Board met in joint session Monday, Feb. 28 to discuss three joint projects that are in the planning stage.
The projects, a gymnasium to be used by Los Alamos Middle School (LAMS) and the community as well, a gym or recreational facility in White Rock and building more tennis courts for both public and School District use have been discussed for approximately six years. The two entities are ready to move forward to the initial planning stages, including site selection.
