Chart 617: COVID-19 Diagnoses In Los Alamos Continue To Be Higher Than National And State Averages

This chart shows the seven-day average number of COVID-19 diagnoses per 100,000 people versus date nationwide, statewide, and countywide. Since Feb. 15, diagnoses in Los Alamos were consistently  higher than the national average and the state average. On a scale of 0 to 100, the diagnoses index quantifies the current level of diagnoses by using a comparison with daily levels since the start of the pandemic (the higher the index, the more severe the current state of the pandemic is). County Accepting Applications To Fill BPU Vacancy

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County is currently accepting applications until April 28 to fill one position on the Board of Public Utilities (BPU). 

Comprising five voting members, the BPU governs the Department of Public Utilities (DPU), a county-owned utility that provides Los Alamos with electric, water, natural gas and wastewater services.

The appointed individual will fill a position to be vacated July 1 due to an expiring term. Applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. Thursday, April 28.

In an effort to better understand the Santa Fe National Forest trails and trail program, the Community Services Department (CSD) has reached out the Santa Fe National Forest to discuss the Pueblo Canyon Project, trails around Los Alamos, trail use, maintenance and other topics.

Early Morning Traffic Controls On Canyon Road March 1

Crews from the Los Alamos County Department of Public Utilities will be doing work at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 1 on the shoulder of Canyon Road near the bus stop in front of the Aquatic Center.

While the work is expected to be completed in under an hour, traffic controls will be in place. Cones will make a slight traffic diversion and the bike lane and sidewalk will be closed in the work area.

County Invites Public Comment On Module 2 Of Chapter 16 Of Development Code

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County Community Development Department (CDD) and its consultant Dekker/Perich/Sabatini (DPS) remind the community that it’s not too late to provide public comment on the second module of the Chapter 16 Development Code.

Comments will be accepted up until the County Council meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. March 15.

The draft document can be viewed online, along with presentation slides and a Zoom recording of a Feb. 15 open house held by CDD and DPS representatives to explain the revisions.
