In the 2021 Los Alamos County code enforcement survey, the County achieved high marks as an excellent place to live. Nearly nine in 10 respondents rated Los Alamos as excellent or good. The public’s regard for the County’s code enforcement was another story.
Only three in 10 respondents felt code enforcement, land use and planning and zoning were good or excellent while seven in 10 graded these areas fair or poor.

Council Action Taken Tuesday Feb. 22

Los Alamos County Council approved initial steps toward the goal of eliminating greenhouse gas emissions in the County during its Tuesday night meeting.
After the Los Alamos Resiliency, Energy and Sustainability task force presented its recommendations, council approved 5-1 with Councilor David Reagor opposed to move forward on some of the task force’s recommendations. Vice Chair Denise Derkacs was absent.

Los Alamos County Community Services Department Seeks Input From Teens On Potential Skills Park

The Community Services Department (CSD) visited the Los Alamos Teen Center today to provide an opportunity for teens to voice their opinions and thoughts about a potential skills park.
CSD has been working with Design Office, a professional consulting service to provide a conceptual design and layout for new and renovated trails in Pueblo Canyon.

Facemasks Optional In Los Alamos County-Owned Buildings

Los Alamos County Manager Steven Lynne announced this morning that beginning today, Wednesday, Feb. 23, facemasks in County-owned facilities are welcome but not required with some exceptions.
Exceptions include:
- Atomic City Transit (ACT): Due to Federal funding and mandates, masks are required to be worn on all buses and in ACT facilities;
- Municipal Court: Following the guidance from the Supreme Court of New Mexico, masks are required in the courthouse;
- Senior Centers: Per the New Mexico Aging and Long-term Services Department, Senior Center staff must wear facemasks; and

The FY2021 Annual Report from the Department of Public Utilities (DPU) has been published to the Los Alamos County website at https://ladpu.com/DPU21AnnualRpt.
A requirement under Article V of the Los Alamos County Charter, the report covers financials for each utility and the department as a whole.

Beginning Tuesday Feb. 22, Atomic City Transit (ACT) in-bound Route 2T in White Rock will detour from Aztec Avenue to Rover Boulevard onto Grand Canyon due to the road construction project on Sherwood Boulevard.
Bus Stop #594 (Grand Canyon Drive and Sherwood Boulevard and Bus Stop #483 (Grand Canyon Drive and Cheryl Avenue) will be closed through the duration of the project – completion on this project is scheduled for the middle of July.
