SANTA FE — New Mexico state health officials announced 3,110 new COVID-19 cases between Saturday and today.

Los Alamos County reported 7 new cases over the three days, bringing the total to 996 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. (County totals are subject to change upon further investigation and determination of residency of individuals positive for COVID-19.)

This update includes 37 new deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19 and a 7-Day positivity rate of 9.5 percent.

County Assessor’s Office To Close Early Wednesday

COUNTY News:

The Los Alamos County Assessor advises that the Assessor’s Office at 1000 Central Ave., Suite 210 will close at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22 for a holiday, employee appreciation luncheon.  

Chief Deputy Marty Martinez states that during the Wednesday closure customers can continue to email any requests or inquiries to assessor@lacnm.us and may leave documents in the drop box next to the entry door of Suite 210.

Expect Traffic Controls For Asphalt Patching On San Ildefonso Beginning At Camino Uva And Heading East

COUNTY News:

The eastbound lane on a portion of San Ildefonso Road will be closed beginning at 9 a.m. and ending by 3 p.m. Tuesday.

The closure of the 100-foot-long segment, beginning at Camino Uva and heading east, is for asphalt patching.

A flagging operation by crews from the Los Alamos County Traffic and Streets Division will direct all eastbound traffic, including bicyclists, to the westbound lane.

Motorists and bicyclists going in both directions are urged to slow down and obey all traffic safety devices and flagging personnel.

Local Streetlights Turned Off For Farolito Viewing Dec. 23-27

The Los Alamos County Traffic & Streets Division will be turning off the power to various streetlights to enhance the viewing of holiday farolitos.

The streetlights will be turned off Thursday, Dec. 23 and restored Monday, Dec. 27.

No Mobile Curative COVID Testing In Los Alamos Dec. 23-30

The mobile Curative COVID testing site in Los Alamos will not be available on Thursdays, Dec. 23 and 30 in observance of the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

Curative provides free, shallow, nasal swab COVID-19 testing to anyone wishing to be tested, with or without symptoms.
