LAPD Hosts DEA Drug Take Back Day Saturday Oct. 23

LAPD News:

Saturday, Oct. 23, the Los Alamos Police Department will be conducting its biannual DEA Drug Take Back Day.

This event will be held 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the North parking lot (off Central Avenue) at the police station.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, additional precautions have been put in place to ensure the safety of all individuals who partake. LAPD ask everyone to follow the guidelines to ensure a safe process for all.

County Crew Responding To Power Outage On Los Pueblos

Update: Power is now restored.

COUNTY News:

Electric linemen with the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities are responding to and investigating a power outage reported on the far east end of Los Pueblos Street in the Barranca Mesa Neighborhood.

Approximately 41 customers are affected.

Pfizer Booster Vaccine Clinic Reservations Available For Sunday

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County and the New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) will hold a vaccine clinic to administer a single Pfizer booster (third dose) for select populations who received the Pfizer vaccine as their primary series (first two doses).

Reservations are still available for eligible individuals. The clinic is 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 10 at the Auxiliary Gym at Los Alamos High School.

County Utility Work: Lane Drop On Overlook Road

COUNTY News:

A lane drop and flagging operation on Overlook Road at the intersection of the White Rock wastewater treatment plant road is planned to begin this week and continue through the end of October.

Under contract to the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities, Parker Construction will excavate and tap a gas main first in the westbound lane and then move to the eastbound lane.

This work is in support of a project to replace the wastewater treatment plant with a new water resource recovery facility.

Traffic impacts will be minimal.

New Mexico COVID-19 Update Oct. 1: 791 New Cases, Totaling 253,815 With 11 Deaths And 224,058 Recovered

SANTA FE — New Mexico state health officials announced today 791 additional COVID-19 cases.

Los Alamos County reports 3 new cases bringing the total to 668 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. (County totals are subject to change upon further investigation and determination of residency of individuals positive for COVID-19.)

Latest Update On Boards & Commissions Meetings

In July, the County Council discussed and then decided to return to in-person meetings in Council Chambers, with the option for members of the public to continue to join meetings via the Zoom online video platform remaining in place.

Zoom had been added during the COVID-19 pandemic last year. The Council asked their various boards, commissions and committees (BCCs) to have a similar discussion at their meetings over August and September and decide how to proceed – in-person only, Zoom only, or a “hybrid” using both options.
