Tsikumu Village Improvements Project Begins April 1

COUNTY News:

Construction activities begin Monday, April 1 on the Tsikumu Village Improvements Project in Los Alamos. Albuquerque Asphalt Inc. will conduct the work.

Proposed improvements include:

  • mill existing asphalt pavement surface;
  • overlay with new asphalt; and
  • concrete valley gutters.

Proposed improvements also include limited concrete replacement (approximately 5 percent) of sidewalks, valley gutters, curb and gutter, fillets, drive pads and ADA curb ramps at designated locations on the following streets:

  • Sioux;
  • Cheyenne;
  • Seminole;
  • Iroquois;
  • Yuma; and
  • Ute.

News Alert: Second Water Break On NM 4

COUNTY News:

The Los Alamos County Department of Public Utilities is reporting this morning that another water break has occurred on N.M. 4 approximately 1 mile south of East Jemez Road (Truck Route).

DPU water crews are working in the shoulder on the east side of the road. Traffic traveling north toward N.M. 502 are encouraged to slow down near the construction footprint.

DPU said that water service to the White Rock community will not be impacted.

County Survey On 2019 Priorities Closes March 31

COUNTY News:

There is just one week remaining to take the Open Forum survey hosted by the Los Alamos County Council. Councilors are seeking community feedback about the 2019 Strategic Leadership Plan unanimously adopted at the Council meeting held Feb. 12, 2019.

The survey will close at 5 p.m. Sunday, March 31. Results will be given to the Council in a report generated by the Open Forum software, for them to consider before the budget hearing process begins April 15.

Seven priorities have been identified as focus areas this year:

The Department of Energy (DOE), National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) has prepared a Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) to analyze  the proposed construction and operation of a 10 megawatts (MW) ground-mounted solar photovoltaic system (PV) and associated power transmission line within an existing power transmission line corridor. The EZ will also  analyze the No Action Alternative of not constructing the PV.

Diamond Drive Asphalt/Pothole Repairs Begin Monday

COUNTY News:

Weather Permitting, Los Alamos County Traffic and Streets crews will continue to patch potholes on Diamond Drive beginning Monday March 25. 

Work will begin at Trinity Drive and Diamond Drive and continue toward the San Ildefonso Road round-a-bout on the north bound lanes.

Motorists should expect a moving single lane closure indicated by a digital arrow board. Please slowdown in the work zone and follow all temporary construction signage. It is anticipated work will be completed by Friday March 29.
