The Environmental Sustainabilty Board meets at 5:30 p.m., Thursday in Council Chambers at the Los Alamos Municipal Building. Refreshments will be served in honor of members John Bliss and Sarah Terrill who are completing their terms so this will be their final meeting.

Brenners And County File Briefs In Federal Lawsuit

Two more briefs have been entered in a federal lawsuit filed in May by former Los Alamos resident Patrick Brenner and his mother, Los Alamos resident Lisa Brenner, alleging retaliation and harassment including malicious prosecution and defamation by the Los Alamos County Council, Los Alamos Police Chief Dino Sgambellone and two unnamed police officers.

Also named in the suit are Councilor Susan O’Leary and former Councilor James Chrobocinski in both their official and individual capacities.

Los Alamos Woman Cited In Dog Bite Incident

Los Alamos dog owner Janet Sprake has been cited in Los Alamos Municipal Court for having a dog at large and menacing behavior by her dog following an incident early Sunday morning in which a summer student was bitten by an unleashed dog while running in Bayo Canyon.

The Los Alamos Police Records Division is not releasing the victim’s name because the case is still active, however he is reportedly undergoing medical treatment.The incident occurred approximately half a mile east of the Diamond Drive traffic circle trailhead.

LALT Members Gather For Work Party Saturday

Los Alamos Little Theatre members gathered for a work party Saturday, July 14 to perform maintenance on the grounds around the Performing Arts Center. LALT manages the PAC for Los Alamos County and is responsible for upkeep on some aspects of the building and grounds. The LALT team trimmed trees, pulled weeds, laid down wire mesh to prevent skunks from burrowing under the building, and replaced 16 old, degraded railroad ties that were part of the landscaping. Gas crews with the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities will close La Vista Dr. just east of Yosemite to all traffic Friday at La Paloma in White Rock.

The day-long closure is to permit crews to repair a natural gas line in the roadway. Work is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. and anticipated to wrap-up by 4 p.m. Friday.
