Police Inventory Lists 66 Firearms At Steve Porter’s Pajarito Acres Home

Los Alamos Police arrested Steven C. Porter Monday and charged him with escape from a community custody program, a felony, for tampering with his court ordered electronic monitoring device.

He is being held in jail without bond and scheduled to go back before Los Alamos Magistrate Court Judge Pat Casados at 8:30 a.m., Thursday at the Justice Center.

Free Flight Giveaway During ScienceFest Events

During upcoming ScienceFest events in September, Los Alamos County Airport (LAM) will promote the new commercial air service being offered between Los Alamos and Albuquerque by giving away two free round-trip flights on New Mexico Airlines, the company under contract to the County that provides commercial airline service between LAM and Albuquerque’s Sunport (ABQ).

LAM will sponsor three booths:

  • RocketDay 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Sept. 6 at Overlook Park;
  • Science of Flight 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 13 at the airport; and

Council Issues Los Alamos ScienceFest Proclamation

New Mexico Artist Greg Reiche Begins Sculpture Design Process for New Nature Center

Last week, the Arts in Public Places Committee and members of the Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) met with artist Greg Reiche to formally kick off the design process for the sculpture to adorn the outside of the new Los Alamos County Nature Center.

The group toured the construction site where the new facility is well under construction, giving the artist a chance to better understand PEEC, its mission, and the role the new center will play in the community. Read More

The proposed Pajarito Ski Area temporary pipeline permit will be explained at a public meeting at 6 p.m. today.

The Española Ranger District is hosting the meeting at Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church, 3900 Trinity Dr. in Los Alamos. The meeting will be in Kelly Hall on the Trinity Dr. side of the church.

Tucker is a handsome long-haired, adult male Angora cat. He is dark with white tuxedo markings on his chest. 

Quite the fastidious kitty, he loves to be brushed and has a soft, silky coat. Tucker is exceptionally friendly and comes right up to be petted by visitors. He loves to be petted.

The Pajarito Astronomers will hold a County-sponsored Dark Night starting at 7:45 p.m. (sunset) Saturday, Aug. 30 at Spirio Soccer Field in Overlook Park.

FlyLosAlamos has launched a new mobile-friendly website offering a better way to view flight information and make reservations.

Formatted to fit all types of mobile devices, the site offers streamlined navigation that connects customers to flight schedules, an airport location map, tap-to-call function for reservations, and a connection to the New Mexico Airlines website to view availability and book a flight.
