Urban Park Tennis Court Resurfacing Begins Today
COUNTY News:
Repair work will get underway today at the northeast tennis court in Urban Park. Contractors will be resurfacing a large area of this court to make it safer for play.
Although the tennis court may not be available during the day, contractors plan to leave the court playable in the evenings.
Visitors in the area are asked to use caution around the court, obey closure signs and generally avoid resurfacing activities in progress. CED Customer Windows Close Wednesdays At Noon
COUNTY News:
Picking up a County building permit or business license? Starting Aug. 6, the Community and Economic Development (CED) customer windows inside the Municipal Building, 1000 Central Ave., have new hours – the windows will be closed at noon Wednesdays ONLY. The windows will be open 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. all other days.
Residents may drop off applications Wednesday afternoons, but permit technicians will not be available to answer questions.
This early closure each Wednesday will allow staff members to work on a new software project to enhance customer service. More information on Read More

Free Flight Giveaway – Take Airlines Survey At Fair

During the County Fair Saturday, Los Alamos County Airport (LAM) will promote the new commercial air service being offered between Los Alamos and Albuquerque by giving away one free round trip flight on New Mexico Airlines, the company under contract to the County that provides commercial airline service between LAM and Albuquerque’s Sunport (ABQ).
To enter, fair-goers should drop by the County Council fair booth and complete a short survey which is also the entry form. The survey asks a few questions about the individual’s use or knowledge of the airline service. Read More
Rodeo Parking Limited on North Mesa this Weekend

In an effort to limit vehicle traffic in the North Mesa Stables area for the safety of stable lot owners and their animals, spectators for the Rodeo this weekend will not be allowed entrance from North Mesa Road.
Only rodeo contestants, stable lot owners and vehicles with handicap placards will be allowed entrance to the stables during the rodeo.

LAFD Selects New Fire Marshal and Captain

LAFD News:
Los Alamos County Fire Chief Troy Hughes announced this morning that two members of LAFD have been promoted, effective today.
Jeff Wetteland has been promoted to battalion chief, in charge of the Fire & Life Safety Division. Wetteland began his career with LAFD in July 2001 and was promoted to captain in April 2009. Chief Wetteland will serve as the County’s fire marshal.
