Girl Scout Troop 10384 Hosts Activity Day Nov. 10

Girl Scout Troop 10384 is hosting Activity Day 1:30-4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10 at the Unitarian Church.

Activity Day is a day full of fun and educational activities for children ages 4- 9. The troop will teach children about the environment, animals and other household activities.

During Activity Day, certain scouts will hold stations teaching about specific things including plant life cycles, baking, caring for pets and other topics.

Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) is hosting a SOLO Wilderness First Aid (WFA) Course at the Los Alamos Nature in early November.

Los Alamos High School will host its 5th Annual Career Fair noon to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25 in the Auxiliary Gymnasium. 

Los Alamos community members representing a variety of careers have committed to attend this year’s event and share their experiences with students. Representatives from UNM-LA, Northern New Mexico College and Santa Fe Community College, as well as Workforce Solutions and the military also are participating in the career fair.

Progressive Fighting Systems of New Mexico will present a Jeet Kune Do Self-Defense Seminar noon to 5 p.m. Oct. 28-29 at High Flyers Gymnastics in the Pueblo Complex, 1900 Diamond Dr. in Los Alamos.

Each of the seven Los Alamos pubic schools is well on its way to creating school libraries in Kenya. Chamisa, Barranca and Pinon elementary schools have already reached the 1,000+ book goal. Mountain and Aspen elementary schools are very close to that goal, while Los Alamos High School and Los Alamos Middle School are still actively soliciting books so they, too, can create 1,000 book libraries.

Los Alamos High School 2017 graduate Danekah D. Olguin completed basic military training in August at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio, Texas.

 

She completed an intensive eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values and physical fitness as well as basic warfare principles and skills.
