DEA Kicks Off Annual Red Ribbon Campaign Oct. 23

WASHINGTON, D.C.  The United States Drug Enforcement Administration will kick off its annual Red Ribbon Campaign, the nation’s largest drug prevention effort, Oct. 23. 
 
The National Red Ribbon Campaign began after drug traffickers in Mexico tortured and brutally murdered Special Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena in March 1985. Red Ribbon Week is officially celebrated nationally Oct. 23-31; however, communities and school districts nationwide hold events throughout the month.

ESPAÑOLA— The LANL Foundation awarded 24 grants totaling $82,645 to support education and community programs in Northern New Mexico during the third-quarter grantmaking period.
