Report: NM’s Per-Pupil K-12 Funding Remains Much Lower

NMVC News:

ALBUQUERQUE—New Mexico is still spending 8 percent less per pupil on K-12 education than before the recession.

That translates to $633 less being spent per student than funding levels in 2008, when adjusted for inflation. That’s according to a report released by the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP), a non-partisan policy research organization based in Washington, D.C.

Artist Lisa Coddington Returns To PEEC To Teach Drawing Animals Workshop

PEEC is very fortunate to welcome back talented artist Lisa Coddington, who will teach a workshop about using simple drawing materials to portray furry, feathery and slimy animals.

The class is 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25 at PEEC and includes a 30-minute break for lunch. The workshop is suggested for beginner and intermediate levels.

Take up your pencils and paper, and join Coddington to explore pencil techniques that portray animals in this hands-on workshop. Learn how to select your subject and how to start an animal portrait.

Lynne Higdon, the physical education teacher at Barranca Elementary School, was named the 2014 New Mexico Elementary Physical Education Teacher of the Year.
