NWS Albuquerque Forecasts Potent Winter Storm
NWS News:
The National Weather Service in Albuquerque (NWS) forecasts a potent winter storm will race east across the region through Monday bringing snow, blowing snow, strong to damaging winds and frigid temperatures.
The most significant impacts will be across northeast New Mexico where the forecast combination of strong to damaging winds and snow have prompted the issuance of a rare Blizzard Warning. Blizzard conditions may make it south to I-40 east of Santa Rosa on Monday.

Cliff Dwelling: The Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument consists of five natural caves which have all been equipped with rooms. A total of 40 rooms are scattered among the five caves. The Mogollon Culture people only lived at the Gila Cliff Dwellings for 25-30 years before moving on to an unknown location. Read More

We previously reviewed how the composition of lava by itself contributes to the resulting rocks seen in fields. Lava that is predominately liquid to start can become dense boulders after it has cooled. Lava that is powdery or porous when created can become sandy with small stones.
A second influence is concerned with the slopes coming down from the rim of a volcanic crater. The angles of slopes are a major influence. Read More
DOE/NNSA: Floodplain Assessment Available For Proposed Additional Lane At Vehicle Inspection Port Near East Jemez Road – NM 4 Intersection
The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) has prepared a floodplain assessment for proposed construction of an additional vehicle inspection lane at the guard post near the East Jemez Road and N.M. 4 intersection.
The project is intended to provide expedited inspection times for vehicles transporting time sensitive loads, such as concrete and asphalt to Los Alamos National Laboratory. Pajarito Mountain To Open Townsight Lift On Saturday

Pajarito Mountain announced today that it is opening up the Townsight lift on Saturday, and with today’s storm, expects to open 100% of its terrain.
The Townsight lift has not run in many years. The lift accesses blue and green trails, and can be reached via the Aspen lift on East Road.
