This year’s Los Alamos Artists Studio Tour is Oct. 11-12 and the Los Alamos Daily Post is featuring a “Get to Know Your Artist” series leading up to the annual event.

The  21st annual Pojoaque River Art Tour is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 20 -21, with an Artists’ Reception and Silent Auction 5-8 p.m. Friday, Sept.19 at Than Povi Fine Art Gallery (next to Gabriel’s Restaurant).

Renne Mitsunaga, art teacher from Chamisa Elementary and Stephanie Rittner, art teacher from Pinon, spent the day at the N.M. State Fair. They didn’t ride the Ferris wheel or eat cotton candy. They hung almost 200 pieces of Los Alamos Public Schools student art in the School Arts building.

Fire Hydrant Painting Continues Around Town

Steven Calhoun of Los Alamos has an umbrella ready as artist Olivia Snyder of Santa Fe paints a fire hydrant on Central Avenue during intermittent showers Thursday. The Fire Hydrant Painting Competition is part up the 2014 Los Alamos ScienceFest, which kicks off today. Snyder is a junior at Santa Fe School for the Arts and is painting a ‘space geometric’ pattern on her hydrant near the Bradbury Science Museum.
