The depth, breadth, kindness, and compassion in the leadership of our community often goes unrecognized, but Leadership Los Alamos (LLA) strives to bring contributions into clear focus.

The LLA Board of Directors at their May 16 event heralded three leadership categories:

  • The Distinguished Alumnus Award;
  • The Distinguished Leader Award; and
  • The NextGen Leadership Award (for students 13-18).

LAAC ‘Come As You Are’ Exhibit Opening Reception May 30

LAAC News:
The Los Alamos Arts Council (LAAC) announces the opening of its newest exhibition, Come As You Are, in honor of Pride Month. The opening reception is 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 30 in the Fuller Lodge Art Center, 2132 Central Ave., with the show running through June 20. Light refreshments will be served at the opening.

Learn Plants Of The Bosque At Coronado Historic Site’s First Sunday Walk June 1

Coronado Historic Site News:

The community is invited to join Coronado Historic Site staff in Bernalillo on the first Sunday of June for a natural history program in the bosque.

This month, Dara Saville of the Yerba Mansa Project will lead a plant walk focusing on edible bosque plants. After the walk, participants can create bosque plant rubbings with crayons and watercolor paints.

This program is free to New Mexico residents, $7 for non-residents, and free to children 16 years and younger, people with Native/Tribal affiliations, disabled veterans, and foster families.

Art Exhibit E Pluribus Unum: Mogollon Opening June 5

LAS CRUCES — The University Art Museum (UAM) has partnered with Santa Fe-based, Axle Contemporary, to present E Pluribus Unum: Mogollon June 5 to Aug. 20 in the UAM’s Mullennix Bridge Gallery.

E Pluribus Unum features more than 800 portraits from residents across New Mexico collected Aug. 23 to Oct. 20, 2024, while artists Matthew Chase-Daniel and Jerry Wellman traveled around South-Central and South-Western New Mexico in Axle Contemporary, a mobile artspace and solar-powered photography studio.
