Santa Fe National Forest Enters Stage 1 Fire Restrictions 

SFNF News:

SANTA FE — Due to elevated wildfire risk, the Santa Fe National Forest will implement Stage 1 Fire Restrictions (Order # 03-10-00-26-03) forest-wide beginning today, April 2, 2026, through Sept. 30, 2026.

The decision to implement fire restrictions is based on various factors, including the availability of firefighting resources, current drought conditions, weather forecast, the time of year, and fuel moisture levels. Implementing fire restrictions can help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect public health and safety.

Update On Repaving Operations On Camp May Road

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County’s contractor for the Jemez Mountain Fire Protection Project, DUB-L-EE, will begin paving operations on Camp May Road this week.

The work on Camp May Road is being done under the Jemez Mountain Fire Protection Project (JMFPP), which began in April 2025. This project includes installation of underground utility infrastructure up to Pajarito Mountain. Waterlines and conduit for electric and fiber lines have been installed. Installation of vaults for fiber and electric lines has also been completed.

The Los Alamos High School and Española Valley High School softball teams invite the community to our inaugural Play for the Cure softball game, Saturday, April 11, at Hope Field at Overlook Park in White Rock. Opening ceremonies will begin at 9:45 a.m. with the game kicking off at 10 a.m.

The Los Alamos High School softball team will wear blue to raise awareness for colon cancer.

The Española Valley High School softball team will wear gray to raise awareness for brain cancer.

The Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce is going to hold a Corvette Show during ChamberFest this year in Los Alamos!
