Rain Washes Out 15th Street Today

COUNTY News:

The road construction activities on 15th Street between Trinity and Central Avenue were flooded with this afternoon’s rain event, making the roadway impassable.

This section of 15th Street has been closed until conditions improve. RMCI will be working diligently to reopen this road as soon as possible.

Motorists are urged to use 20th Street or Knecht Street as alternative routes. Those wishing to access businesses in this section of 15th Street are asked to park off Deacon Street and are reminded to use area crosswalks.

Golf Course Springs a Leak

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County staff announced today that there is a water leak in a pressurized irrigation line at the Los Alamos Golf Course.

The irrigation line, which serves the Golf Course south of Diamond Drive has been shut off and water trucks are being used to water the greens, tee boxes and fairways until irrigation service can be restored.

County staff will be running a camera through the irrigation line in an attempt to isolate the leak location and damage.

WHITE ROCK’S ART & ARTISANS MARKET: Call for Patrons

The Los Alamos Creative District will be having its first Art Market this Sunday, July 29. 

The location will be an outdoor space held at the Hive at 134 N.M. 4 in White Rock.

The market will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and is free to the public who attend.

County’s Next Quick Start Tennis Program Begins July 30

When Tanner Stewart grabbed around a child-sized tennis racket, he began to smile.

“The big rackets are really heavy,” said Tanner, who is in the 4 to 7 age group session of the Quick Start Tennis Program. “I like swinging the smaller rackets, I can hit the ball and it’s more fun.”

Tanner was among the 16 children in the 4 to 7 year olds who participated in the Los Alamos County tennis program that ran from July 9 to July 19 at the Canyon Tennis Courts.

Enjoy Putt-Putt and the Muppets at East Park Tonight

The Ponderosa Putt-Putt Tournament is 6-7:30 p.m., today (Wednesday, July 25) at East Park.

Participants will test their skills at the Ponderosa Putt-Putt Tournament. The tournament is broken into three age groups, 5-7, 8-11 and 12+.

Prizes will be awarded for first through third place in each age group.

County Launches Citizen Satisfaction Survey

COUNTY News:

Residents in Los Alamos County may receive a phone call or “person on the street” interview during the next two weeks, asking for their feedback on County government.

The County has been regularly conducting these citizen satisfaction surveys every other year since 1996.

The purpose of the citizen survey is to gather public opinion on a variety of subjects, including satisfaction with County services and programs.

Whenever possible, the County uses the information for reporting on performance measures for service improvements.
