The Topper soccer Team played host to the Hope Christian Huskies in a nonconference game played on Sullivan Field Wednesday afternoon. The game had a 30-minute lightning delay and at the end of regulation play the score was tied 1-1. This prompted 2 overtimes and the contest ended in a 1-1 tie. A couple of weeks ago, I gave a talk at the monthly Kiwanis Club meeting. At their request, I provided a summary on what’s happening in the County. County Accepting Applications For Retail ‘LEDA’ Program

Staff Report:

Los Alamos County is now accepting applications for its new Retail Local Economic Development Act (LEDA) Program, a funding initiative designed to help retail businesses expand services, create jobs, and strengthen the local economy.

The program provides funding for retail projects that address key community needs, including food services, clothing and apparel sales, personal and health care, and tourism-related businesses.

LEDA funds may be applied toward capital infrastructure, building improvements, storefront, accessibility, and code compliance upgrades. Read More

County Community Development Department To Undergo Software Upgrade Sept. 8–9

COUNTY News:

The Los Alamos County Community Development Department (CDD) will be conducting a software upgrade Monday, Sept. 8, and Tuesday, Sept. 9. During this period, CDD staff will be unable to process permit applications, enter payments, or update records. Additionally, the online Citizens Self-Service Portal will be unavailable, and certain in-office services may be limited.

The Los Alamos County Community Services Department (CSD) has acquired several robotic mowers from Husqvarna to test the effectiveness and efficiency of these battery-driven robotic mowers – they are like Roomba’s, but for grass! “We are excited to bring this cutting-edge technology to Los Alamos,” said Community Services Director Cory Styron. “These mowers are expected to improve the turf health and allow for staff to work on other details in the landscape”.
