Zuni Youth Enrichment Project Equips 20 Young Adults With Counselor Training For Summer Camp Serving 120 Children

ZUNI News:

ZUNI, N.M. — Ahead of its Wellness Week and 17th Annual Summer Camp serving 120 Zuni children, the Zuni Youth Enrichment Project provided an intensive counselor training and retreat experience for 20 young adults, June 9-20. Wellness Week took place June 23-26, and Summer Camp started June 30 and will run through July 25.

The counselors participated in five days of training with ZYEP and community partners, a three-day retreat at Cottonwood Gulch Basecamp and Mt. Taylor, and four additional training days at ZYEP. The training included a significant focus on Zuni language.

Aquatic Center Closing 8am-3pm July 29 For Training

COUNTY News:

The Los Alamos County Aquatic Center’s Olympic Pool and Therapy Pool will be temporarily closed, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29, for a scheduled in-service training.

During this time, Aquatic Center staff and community members will receive training on the new Colorado Timing System, which will be used for hosting swim meets and other timed events.

The Leisure Lagoon will remain open during normal hours on July 29.

The Aquatic Center’s Olympic Pool and Therapy Pool will reopen and resume normal operations after 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29.
