Online Suicide Prevention Training Before Holidays

Before the holidays, Champions of Youth Ambitions (C’YA ) is offering a free, one-hour, virtual training on suicide prevention.

The online training will be held 3-4 p.m., Saturday, Nov 22, and is limited to 12 students who must be 18 or older and include certificates of completion.

Those interested in attending the online training must send a valid email address and phone number to cya.org@att.net or text or call 505.695.9139.

If this virtual option is of interest, additional online training opportunities will be offered.

LAPS To Resume Regular Bus Route Services Nov. 17

The Los Alamos Public Schools (LAPS) Transportation Department has announced that beginning Monday, Nov. 17, all regular school bus route services will resume. 

LAPS has been able to hire additional bus drivers who have completed all the training and licensing requirements to drive a school bus. Therefore, the district is now able to cover all routes, including those with service for high school students living on Barranca Mesa and North Mesa.

NM Higher Education Dept.: Student Debt Relief Granted To Nearly 400 Teachers Working In New Mexico Classrooms

SANTA FE – Nearly 400 teachers will be receiving student loan forgiveness this year through the state’s Teacher Loan Repayment Program, part of New Mexico’s ongoing effort to build and strengthen the teacher pipeline. 

The agency awarded funding to 387 new teachers, adding to the 529 teachers who were already receiving benefits through the loan forgiveness program. The program launched in 2013 as an effort to draw more teachers to New Mexico’s classrooms.

There is still time to submit nominations for the Los Alamos High School (LAHS) 2026 Athletic Hall of Fame. All submissions are due no later than Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026.

Since its inception in 2014, there have been 60 LAHS Hall of Fame members. Nominees may be former student-athletes who graduated from LAHS, former coaches or any individual who has made an outstanding contribution to or has had a significant impact on the Los Alamos Public Schools (LAPS) athletic program.
