The Los Alamos High School Hilltopper Volleyball team traveled to Española Thursday night to play a match against the Española Sundevils in Edward Medina Gymnasium.

The Toppers had little trouble winning the first two sets, but the Sundevils rallied to win the third set.

The win prompted a fourth set, which the Toppers won and took the match 3-1.

Los Alamos Public Schools shares the announcement from the U.S. Department of Education that Uxue Sansinena, a member of the Los Alamos High School Class of 2025, has been selected as a 2025 U.S. Presidential Scholar. 

She is one of 161 American high school graduates who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement, artistic excellence, technical expertise, leadership, citizenship, service, and contribution to school and community.

Los Alamos Public Schools Celebrates Student Achievement And Continued Focus On Growth

Los Alamos Public Schools (LAPS) is pleased to share that the school district continues to perform among the top districts in New Mexico and in the nation. Results from the 2024-2025 state assessments show that LAPS students are excelling across subjects, with proficiency rates substantially higher than statewide averages.

On the Spring 2025 assessments, LAPS students achieved 73.5% proficiency in Language Arts (compared to the state average of 43.5%), 59.0% proficiency in Math (compared to the state’s 24.8%), and 64.4% proficiency in Science (compared to the state’s 35.0%). Read More

LAHS Topper Marching Band Named 4A State Champions

The Los Alamos High School Topper Marching Band took top honors in 4A at the 2025 New Mexico State Marching Band Championships held over the weekend.

Their score of 68.3 overall in the finals bested marching bands from Lovington, Portales and Goddard. They also received the award for high musical achievement.

The band is under the direction of Steve Iliff. He is assisted by Zane Meek, Deanna Teague and Christine Subratie.

Two LAHS Seniors Named 2026 Coca-Cola Scholars Program Semifinalists

Los Alamos High School is pleased to share the news that seniors John Kang and Alyssa Sun have been named semifinalists for the 2026 Coca-Cola Scholars Program, moving to the next round of the selection process to become a Coca-Cola Scholar and receive a $20,000 college scholarship.

Only 1,238 high school seniors were selected as semifinalists from a pool of over 107,000 submitted applications from across the country based on their academic excellence, leadership, and service demonstrated in school and community activities.

The Los Alamos Topper football team traveled to Albuquerque Saturday to play a conference game against the Valley Vikings played in Milne Stadium. The Vikings had strong first half but faded in the second half and the Toppers pulled ahead to win the game 47-10 which brings their record to 9-0.
