Reps. Stansbury, Grijalva, Huffman Request Whistleblower Documents Alleging Human Rights Violations By Major India Shrimp Supplier

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Representaive Melanie Stansbury (D-NM), Raúl M. Grijalva (D-Ariz.) and Jared Huffman (D-Calif.), sent a letter requesting documents related to a whistleblower’s account of human rights abuses at a shrimp processing facility operated by one of India’s largest shrimp exporters, Choice Canning.

The whistleblower’s account was recently reported as part of the Outlaw Ocean Project’s extensive investigation into the use of forced labor and other human rights abuses across the global fishing industry.

New Mexico Unemployment Rate: 3.9% In February 2024

New Mexico’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.9 percent in February, down from 4.0 percent in January and up from 3.6 percent in the previous year. The national unemployment rate in February was 3.9 percent, up from 3.7 percent in January and up from 3.6 percent in February 2023.

Total nonagricultural payroll employment grew by 13,700 jobs, or 1.6 percent, between February 2023 and February 2024.
