Adobe Theater Presents Tennessee Williams’ ‘Small Craft Warnings’ August 1–17

THEATER News:

The Adobe Theater presents Tennessee Williams’ SMALL CRAFT WARNINGS Aug. 1–17. An expansion of Tennessee Williams’s earlier one-act play, “Confessional”, Small Craft Warnings centers on a motley group of people gathered in a seedy coastal bar in Southern California. It is a kaleidoscopic pastiche of monologues delivered in a spotlight by each of the characters as the action around them becomes frozen and muted. Through them they reveal their loneliness and the emptiness of their existence.

Director Pete Parkin has always had a fondness for Tennessee Williams. Read More

Duplicate Bridge In Los Alamos: June 23, 2025 Game Results

Bridge News:

This is a hand from the June 23 game of the Los Alamos Duplicate Bridge Club that should lead most partnerships to bid a slam.

See if you agree.

This is board #7.

South is the dealer and both sides are vulnerable.

When South opens the bidding with 1, North should get very excited, as the possibility of bidding a makeable slam is very real. A 5 response is very reasonable at this point, though if the partnership is playing 2/1, a 2♣ bid would force the partnership to game, leaving plenty Read More

Hopelessly Hooked On The Santa Fe Opera

By CAROL A. CLARK
Los Alamos Daily Post

Attending the opera for the first time last year was a remarkable experience. It became eminently clear why The Santa Fe Opera is called “The Best Opera Festival In The World” … and why I am now hooked.

A dear friend of mine has adored the opera for years. Her first experience dates back to the third grade when the Santa Fe Opera brought the opera to her class via their outreach program. After that, her friend’s mom, who was a piano teacher, began taking her and a group of kids to Family Night at the Opera.

In learning that I had not had that experience, Read More

Duplicate Bridge In Los Alamos: June 18, 2025 Game Results

Bridge News:

It looks absolutely beautiful when you pick it up, but that’s deceiving!

This is board #18.

East opens the bidding with 1♠. What in the world does South do? He/she can’t bid spades, as that would show hearts and a minor (Michaels cue bid), so the only options are pass or double. Since a double will likely show support Read More
