NMDOH Reports Decrease In New Mexico Suicides In 2019

SANTA FE – The New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) this week made its annual report on suicides in the state, with 515 New Mexico residents dying by suicide in 2019, down from 535 in 2018.

There was a slight decrease in suicide deaths by women and among non-Hispanic whites from 2018 to 2019.

The number of suicide deaths by poisoning also went down but suicide deaths by firearms, hanging and falls remained consistent to the findings in 2018.

SANTA FE – New Mexico state health officials have announced this afternoon 2,107 additional positive tests for COVID-19.

Los Alamos County reports 7 new cases today … the total is now 120 people who have tested positive for COVID-19.

Today’s update includes 28 new deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19.

The New Mexico Department of Health reported today the most recent cases:

  • 541 new cases in Bernalillo County
  • 108 new cases in Chaves County
  • 64 new cases in Cibola County
  • 14 new cases in Colfax County
  • 41 new cases in Curry County

SANTA FE – The New Mexico Public Education Department reports today that 19 New Mexico public school buildings were placed on the COVID-19 Watchlist in the week ending Friday, Nov. 20, signifying they had at least two Rapid Responses within a 14-day period.

NMED COVID-19 Business Watchlist For Nov. 23, 2020

The New Mexico Environment Department (NMED) has updated its daily Rapid Response COVID-19 Watchlist, which includes New Mexico places of employment that have had two or more rapid responses in the last 14 days.

There are 272 establishments on the Watchlist as of Monday.

SANTA FE – The dangerous spike in COVID-19 cases statewide has led to more testing, which can lead to delays in receiving results.

The New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) is taking action to close the gap in turn-around times. Both negative and positive test results will now be sent by email and text, expediting results to the public.
