SFNF Plans Prescribed Burn On Jemez Ranger District

SANTA FE ― Fire managers on the Jemez Ranger District of the Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) plan to implement a prescribed burn in the Tent Rocks area between May 11 and June 1, if conditions remain favorable.
 
The treatment area is approximately 3.5 miles north of Jemez Springs, NM, and less than 1 mile southwest of La Cueva.

SFNF May Conduct Prescribed Burn This Weekend

SANTA FE ― The Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) may proceed with the previously announced Pacheco Canyon prescribed burn this weekend if conditions, including fuel moisture levels, air quality, wind direction and weather forecasts, are favorable.
 
Fire managers are looking at Saturday or Sunday to conduct this one-day burn. If conditions over the weekend are not optimal, the prescribed burn may be pushed into next week.
 
The 500-acre unit is adjacent to Forest Road (FR) 102, approximately six miles east of Tesuque Pueblo and three miles west of Ski Santa Fe.

Los Alamos Fire Department will begin work this week on an important wildfire fuels reduction project that will provide much-needed mitigation in several areas of Los Alamos.

LAFD has received grant funding for the project, which will include the following areas: Ponderosa Estates Range Road, North Horse Stable Bench, Walnut Bench, Villa Bench, Lower Loma Linda, Camino Redondo and Camino Uva.

SFNF Postpones Rowe Mesa Prescribed Burn

SFNF News:

SANTA FE – Fire managers on the Santa Fe National Forest are postponing the prescribed burn on Rowe Mesa originally planned for this week, primarily due to forecasted weather with showers and thunderstorms expected later today through Wednesday.

Fire managers may reschedule the 293-acre East Rowe Mesa Phase II prescribed burn when conditions on the ground, including fuel moisture levels, air quality and weather, are more favorable. The Rowe Mesa unit is east of N.M. 34 along Rowe Mesa, 10 miles south of Pecos and south of I-25.

SANTA FE ― Fire managers on the Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF) plan to take advantage of favorable conditions today, including fuel moisture levels, air quality, wind direction and weather forecasts, to conduct the previously announced prescribed burn near Nichols Reservoir in the lower Santa Fe Municipal Watershed tomorrow.
