SANTA FE — Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025, fire managers from the Jemez Ranger District will begin ignitions on 7-acres of the Hill Pile Burn unit. The project is located along Forest Road 376 on the hillside adjacent to Fogon Canyon approximately 3 miles from the junction with NM State Road 126. Fire managers are planning one day of ignitions and smoke may be visible from the community of Gilman.

Eddie Crain is the Founder and CEO of Healing America’s Heroes (HAH), founded in 2014 in Northern New Mexico. They started in the Chama, Tierra Amarilla area, and conducted summer programs there through 2021. SANTA FE  —  Those impacted by the Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon Fire and subsequent cascading events now have until March 14, 2025, to start a claim under a deadline extension included as part of a bipartisan spending bill that will provide an additional $1.5 billion to the Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon Fire Assistance Act

LAFD Invites Community To Promotion Ceremony Dec. 14

The Los Alamos Fire Department (LAFD) has announced the promotion of five staff members and extends a warm invitation to the community, friends, and family to join the Department in honoring the accomplishments of these individuals, 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14 at White Rock Fire Station #3, 129 N.M. 4, in White Rock.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Rep. Teresa Leger Fernández (D-N.M.) and U.S. Senators Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) and Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) announced Monday that President Biden’s disaster supplemental request includes $1.5 billion to help New Mexicans recover from the Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon Fire.

If President Biden’s disaster supplemental request is approved by Congress, Luján, Leger Fernández and the New Mexico Congressional Delegation will have secured $5.45 billion to help New Mexicans recover and rebuild since the Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon Fire in April 2022. Read More

Santa Fe National Forest Shares Latest On Prescribed Burns

SANTA FE — On Saturday, fire managers from the Jemez Ranger District completed the 43-acre Triangle pile burn project. This project is near the community of La Cueva, adjacent to Forest Road 376 and Forest Road 604.

Meanwhile, fire managers from the Coyote Ranger District finished the 95-acre Gobernador pile burn unit, at the northern end of the district near Forest Road 169.
