Friday kicks off the second annual Los Alamos Film & Culture Festival (LAFCF), as preparations continue for this weekend. The snowpack in Northern New Mexico is 39-percent of normal. Last week saw some snow in the mountains and the snowpack increased. Locally  the snowpack at the Hopewell measuring station is 55-percent of normal with a snow depth of 24 inches. 

The snowpack in Southern Colorado, including the headwaters of the Rio Grande, is also below normal. Northern and Central Colorado received heavy snow last week, but the storm bypassed Southern Colorado. That has been the weather pattern for most of the winter.

LAAC To Open ‘IN/MOTION’ Exhibit Friday Feb. 21

Ever seen something that appears to be moving but is actually standing still? From drawn motion studies to sculptures of birds in flight to crochet running socks, the Los Alamos Arts Council’s (LAAC) IN/MOTION exhibit encouraged artists to submit works that evoke motion and/or celebrate the moving image.
