Road Closure And Traffic Control Notice Issued For YMCA Firecracker 5k Family Fun Run On Tuesday 4th Of July

YMCA News:

Canyon Road will be closed from 15th Street to Central Avenue continuing to Los Alamos High School from approximately 8-9:30 a.m. July 4 for The Family YMCA’s Independence Day Firecracker 5K Family Fun Run.

There will also be traffic control on 15th Street from Iris Street to Canyon Road and on Canyon Road from Central Avenue to Los Alamos High School.

Bear Spotted Struggling In Tree At IHM On Canyon Road

A bear was spotted struggling in a tree early Thursday morning on the grounds of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church at 3700 Canyon Road. The bear appeared to have its rear paw stuck as it was trying to get down from the tree. Woodland Road To Close On 4th Of July For Block Party

There will be a road closure at the bottom of Woodland Road adjacent to Club Road 2-9 p.m. Tuesday July 4 for a family event and block party. 

Access to Woodland Road can be made by traveling up Arizona and cutting through Country Lane.

Note: Be advised that the route may take up to one minute longer, and there will be even more children than usual running around the area.

Atomic City Transit regular scheduled bus service will not operate Tuesday, July 4, 2023, in observance of the holiday.

Atomic City Transit will provide free shuttle service for the Los Alamos Fourth of July event at Overlook Park in White Rock.

Shuttle service will begin at 3 p.m. from Diamond Drive & Canyon Road in Los Alamos and the White Rock Visitor Center on N.M. 4 and Piñon Elementary School parking lot on Grand Canyon Drive in White Rock.
