Sidewalk And Bike Lane Closed On Diamond Monday

COUNTY News:

The sidewalk and bicycle lane will be closed 9-11:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 6, in front of the New Mexico Department of Health Office at 1183 Diamond Dr.

Crews will be replacing a streetlight damaged in an accident.

Pedestrians are encouraged to use the pedestrian crossings at the signalized intersections at Sandia and Canyon Road.

The County asks motorists to slow down and follow all traffic safety devices in this work zone.

NNSA Public Briefing On NM 4 Upgrade 5:30 p.m. Today

NNSA News:

The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) and the New Mexico Department of Transportation have agreed to partner to redesign and rebuild the intersection at N.M. 4 and East Jemez Road in Los Alamos, which leads to Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL).

Construction is expected to begin in Spring 2022 and last through 2023.

NNSA will provide a public briefing on this project at 5:30 p.m. today at the Los Alamos County Transportation Board. This event can be viewed here.

Los Alamos MainStreet and the Creative District are hosting the Holiday Lights Parade 6-7:30 p.m. Saturday along Central Avenue, from the roundabout to Oppenheimer Drive.

The Los Alamos County Traffic & Streets Division will close this section of the road to all vehicles beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday.

Parade organizers ask the public to avoid parking along Central Avenue during this time.

NNSA Representative To Provide Update On NM4/Jemez Road Intersection Project Thursday Dec. 2

COUNTY News:

The Los Alamos County Transportation Board invites the public to attend its next board meeting, scheduled at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2.

Carol Brown of NNSA’s Los Alamos Field Office will provide an update to the community on the status of the project to re-design and re-construct the intersection of N.M. 4 and Jemez Road.

Due to COVID-19 concerns, the meeting will be conducted remotely.
