Each November, I compose a “Thanksgiving Thankful List” for the preceding year.

My wife, Deb, and I enjoy our life in red rock southern Utah and have many things for which we are thankful.

Young Driver Cited For Crash Near Los Alamos High School

Los Alamos police and firefighters respond to the scene of a single car accident that occurred over the lunch hour today in front of Los Alamos High School. Police Cmdr. Preston Ballew told the Los Alamos Daily Post that there were no injuries reported and the driver, a male youth, was cited for making an improper turn resulting in an accident in which he damaged a light pole and his car. Los Alamos County Issues Annual Winter Driving Tips

Winter weather is here, and the County would like to remind residents of some important safety considerations for motorists to take in order to make their travel as safe as possible.

Motorists are encouraged to equip their vehicles with chains and/or snow tires and carry a container of sand and a shovel in their vehicle.

Law Enforcement Agencies Coordinate Traffic Safety Blitz

SANTA FE — Law enforcement agencies will intensify their saturation patrols and DWI checkpoints to stop drunk drivers across New Mexico now through Jan. 3, 2022.

To support their efforts, the New Mexico Department of Transportation is launching a new fall/winter driver-safety campaign titled, “My Story,” which focuses on drunk driving, underage drinking, distracted driving, and seatbelt use told through the perspective of regretful drivers reflecting on the devastating consequences of their poor choices.

New Mexico State Police Announces Sobriety Checkpoints

NMSP News:

New Mexico State Police (NMSP) will be conducting sobriety checkpoints; saturation patrols; and registration, insurance, and driver’s license checkpoints in all New Mexico counties during the month of December 2021.

NMSP is bringing awareness to these events in an effort to reduce alcohol-related fatalities through continued media attention and intensive advertising.

NMDOT: ‘Take A Ride On Us’ Get Home Safely Nov. 22-29

SANTA FE — As New Mexicans participate in Thanksgiving celebrations involving alcohol, the New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) and its partners are promoting a program to get people living in the Bernalillo County metro area home safely.

Code Compliance Survey Invitations To Be Mailed To 5,000 Los Alamos County Households Nov. 22

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County Community Development Department (CDD), using the POLCO civic engagement platform, will launch an open participation survey online seeking feedback on the County Compliance Code.

Invitations with instructions on how to participate will be mailed to 5,000 randomly selected Los Alamos County households. While the survey launches Dec. 13, the first set of invitations will be mailed Monday, Nov. 22.
