County Asphalt Patching Operation Continues Dec. 13-17

COUNTY News:

The Los Alamos County Traffic and Streets Division mobile asphalt and concrete patching operation that began Monday, Dec. 6, will continue conjointly with Allied 360.

The operation is taking place throughout Los Alamos and White Rock to repair damage to roads that resulted from emergency utility line work.

Traffic controls will be in place for motorists in the vicinity of the work. The operation is occurring Monday through Friday, Dec. 13-17, weather permitting and may continue for several more weeks until all necessary repairs have been made.

County Issues Clarification On Code Compliance Survey

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County Community Development Department (CDD) and DPS Consulting, are in the process of revising Los Alamos Code of Ordinance Chapter 18 Environment Article II Nuisances.

An invitation was mailed Nov. 22 and a reminder notification Dec. 1, to a random sample of 5,400 selected households in Los Alamos and White Rock to provide feedback to CDD and DPS. The invitations included a unique survey link and pin, along with instructions on how to take the survey.

FBI Releases Photos Of Woman Suspected In Setting Four Fires At Islamic Center Of New Mexico

FBI News:

The FBI has released photographs of an unidentified woman suspected of setting four fires last month on the property of the Islamic Center of New Mexico.

The incident occurred shortly after 8 a.m. Monday, Nov. 29. Three of the small fires were set on the center’s playground and the other near an entry door to the mosque.

No one from the center was present at the time.

Members of the public should not attempt to confront this individual, but should contact law enforcement.

Work Zone Crash Claims Life Of NMDOT Employee

NMDOT News:

SANTA FE – The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) is grieving the death of a beloved employee.

Mittie Runyan was killed in a work zone crash Monday, Dec. 6 on US 285. She and her maintenance crew based in Artesia were placing reflectors on a newly resurfaced stretch of road when the crash occurred. Runyan was 58 years old. She was hired April 3, 2000.

NCRTD Looks To Reduce Service On Three Routes; Opens Public Comment Period

NCRTD News:

The North Central Regional Transit District (NCRTD) is looking to implement a series of route modifications as a result of its recent service plan update and in an effort to run routes more efficiently.

Reductions in service are being planned on the 260 La Cienega, 180 El Rito and 320 Questa routes.

Due to low ridership on the 260 La Cienega route, modifications are being planned, which could include service reductions. The District is seeking public comment on how the route might best serve the community, or if the route should be re-designed to better suit their needs.
