Such is heard not infrequently from people defensive about some negative trait or action(s) of their own. But that’s kind of a pathetically low bar to hurdle; one can always find an example worse than oneself. After all, compared to Hitler or Vlad the Impaler, most of us look pretty good! Last week, I shared about Bridge Pose (Setu Bhandasana) as a strengthening pose. However, many poses in yoga can be used for lengthening, strengthening and resting depending on how you practice the pose.

This week we will look at Bridge Pose as a front body opener and restorative or resting back backbend.

LAPS Celebrates Native American Heritage Month

Los Alamos Public Schools is celebrating Native American Heritage Month during November.

The School Board unanimously approved the Native American Heritage Month Resolution at its Tuesday night meeting recognizing the rich and diverse cultures, and contributions of Native Americans and will continue to support the work to preserve the language, history and traditions of tribes and pueblos.

LAPS said that it recognizes that its schools sit on Native American Homelands. New Mexico is home to 23 tribes and 19 pueblos.

SANTA FE — No need to worry about the predicted Christmas tree shortage this year. All you have to do is purchase a permit to cut your own Christmas tree on the Santa Fe National Forest (SFNF). Over-the-phone and online sales will begin Monday, Nov. 22.

Permits can be purchased online through Recreation.gov and printed at home as a convenient alternative to calling a SFNF office to purchase your permit over the phone. NMDOT Provides Cold/Winter Weather Driving Tips

SANTA FE — Parts of New Mexico are already experiencing freezing temperatures, high winds, snow, sleet, rain, and ice, which may cause hazardous driving conditions.

The New Mexico Department of Transportation monitors the weather continuously and is prepared to work around the clock spreading salt and cinder and plowing the roads if necessary.

Canyon Rim Trail Underpass Closure Moved To Nov. 10

COUNTY News:

Crews are unable to work on the Canyon Rim Trail Underpass today so the temporary closure is rescheduled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10.

Workers will reseed and mulch areas disturbed during construction. The trail head parking lot and the rest of the Canyon Rim Trail will remain open.
